As a part of the 26th Cordillera Month Celebration this July 2013 with the theme Bridging One Green Cordillera, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Cordillera Administrative Region (DILG-CAR) will lead the Unity Gong Relay starting July 9, 2013 where Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan will send off the Gong from the Baguio City Hall at 7 o’clock in the morning.

The Regional Development Council (RDC), through the Infrastructure Development Committee, the Committee in-charge for this year’s celebration, has lined up a number of activities for the monthlong celebration. One of the activities is the Unity Gong Relay, with the gong as a fitting symbol of regional unity as it is an inherent instrument practically in all the celebrations, rituals and gatherings of the Cordillera provinces. From Baguio City, the caravan composed of members of the Infracom and other interested RDC members will bring the Gong to Mt. Province on the same day. From Mt. Province, the caravan will transport the Gong to Ifugao on July 10, on July 11 at Kalinga, on July 12 at Apayao, on July 13 at Abra and finally at Benguet on July 14. The Gong will finally be brought to Baguio City on July 15, 2013 and will be turned-over to the RDC during the Cordillera Day Celebration.

A symbolic tree planting within the provincial capitol grounds and signing of MOA, as well as turn-over of check, if any, between the DILG-CAR and concerned LGUs relative to Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA), Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG), Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) and other DILG implemented programs will be conducted as part of the turn-over program in all the provinces. Other RDC members may also include their respective concerns in the said program. ###
